This past weekend 20 members of the chorus participated in the Barbershop Harmony New Zealand He Awa Whiria National Convention in Christchurch. While our member numbers may have been lower than we would have liked, we went down knowing we'd done a lot of good work and felt like we were ready.  We set ourselves a goal to achieve an average of 70 in the chorus contest.

We sang well in the contest, finishing in 8th place (out of 15) with an average score of 72.8! Goal achieved! We also received some of the highest scores we've had in years.
Even better was the feedback from the attendees that they enjoyed our music.

Chapter quartet The Remarkables were also able to take the stage for their first real contest, and walked away with 5th place medals in the Open Quartet Contest! 

All in all, it was a great weekend with some fantastic results!
